According to Forbes, the popular movie and show streaming service plans to invest around $8 billion over the next year or so to update their library with new shows. They plan on having about 50% of that library to be original Netflix content. Yet, a major portion of that new content will be anime.
It is said that the rising popularity of anime along with it’s affordable production costs are driving this decision. These positive numbers make it easy for a streaming service to distribute this content.
Netflix is also taking quite a large progressive risk by funding cross-cultural anime productions like Cannon Busters.
It’s good to see that Nexflix is making strides when it comes to anime and original content. Count me as someone who is excited to see what’s coming next!
