The Best Anime to Watch During The Halloween Season

Halloween season is upon us, and by Halloween season I mean the entire month of October! I can’t think of a more perfect time to binge watch the most spooky and psychologically crippling anime series. So we have put together a short list of the best series to partake in this season. Enjoy!

1. Death Parade

Death Parade is a short anime series that was created, written, and directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa. This series tells a story about recently deceased souls who participate in different games (billiards, darts, arcade games, etc.) to determine if their soul will go into the void or if they will be reincarnated to live a new life. Death Parade can be found on Funimation and YouTube.

2. Black Butler

Originally a manga written and illustrated by Yana Toboso, Black Butler follows the adventures of young Earl Ciel Phantomhive and his faithful demon butler Sebastian Michaelis. These two take missions from Queen Victoria in order to solve mysteries around London. There are two seasons of Black Butler along with a few OVAs. You can watch this anime on Funimation and you can find select episodes on YouTube as well!

3. Tokyo Ghoul

Originally a Japanese dark fantasy manga series by Sui Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul captured the hearts of many viewers when the anime debuted in 2014. The series follows a young student named Ken Kaneki as he battles being half ghoul and half human. There are tow seasons with a third in the works. This series can be found on multiple platforms.

4. Death Note

Surprise! Death Note was also a manga before an anime (*pretends to be shocked*). Written by Tsugumi Ohba, this series follows a high school student named Light Yagami as he takes fate into his own hands after he finds a notebook labeled “Death Note.” This notebook allows Light to kill any one he pleases, but of course there are a few rules. There are two seasons as well as a couple live action movies (one of which was not that great tbh). Death Note can be found on Netflix, Funimation, and YouTube.

5. Bleach

In this anime a young high school student named Ichigo Kurosaki becomes a substitute soul eater. This gives him the power to communicate with spirits, both good and bad. Him and his friends go on multiple adventures to defend their home. There are multiple seasons along with animated movies and a new live action movie is in the works.
