My Top Three Most Heart Wrenching Anime

SPOILER ALERT!

Anime can be funny, scary, romantic, or absolutely heart wrenching. Every series has their own special way of pulling in the viewer. So with that said, here are the top 3 anime that broke my heart.

3) Akame Ga Kill

In this heart wrenching series, a group of killers go on quests for riches and power. Throughout the series you learn about their strengths, weaknesses, and inner demons. Throughout the anime there is loss of life, and I mean a massive amount of life.

2) Assassination Classroom

In this show a middle school class of outcasts is taken over by a genetically modified assassin. In an effort to honor his friend’s last wish, the assassin takes over the class as their new teacher and dedicates his life to teaching them. Yet, the catch here is that the class must assassinate him before their sensei destroys the Earth. After a year of attempted murder and class bonding, they finally are able to stop Korosensei, of course after becoming a small family over the past year. So, basically, they are not only killing their target, but they are killing their mentor and friend who helped them realize their true strength as individuals and a group. (Yes, the ending made me cry.)

1) Sword Art Online

Finally, the one anime that I refuse to watch again (or the second season for that matter) because it truly devastated me. This series went from innocent fun to a fight for the right to live. Friends and foes come together to try to break out of alternate reality video game that the creator has trapped them in. From months on end, they need to defeat different levels or rooms of the game. Once they pass through all the levels, the players will be released back into their true reality. But, here’s the catch, is they die in the game, they die in real life. At the end of the first series, after thousands of lives are lost, they are able to clear the game. Yet, love is lost.
